+ TOWN AND COUNTRY, ELLE DECOR, FINANCIAL TIMES, OUR FRIENDS
New, super-swanky resort on the Victoria and Alfred Waterfront in Cape Town. One&Only Cape Town offers 131 large rooms, dramatic views over Table Mountain, restaurants by Nobu and Gordon Ramsay. [Globorati]  In June 2009, Elle Decor writes in its What hot column, "One&Only Cape Town ... exudes chic ethnic flair with local fabrics, woods and artwork.... A water taxi ferries guests to a nearby spa."  In March 2010, Tatler named One&Only Cape Town one of the "terrific" new hotels in the city.
+ TATLER, W MAGAZINE, OUR FRIENDS, VANITY FAIR
The grande dame of Cape Town, located in a safe, central area. The Mount Nelson Hotel offers breathtaking views of Table Mountain. Beverly Hills meets Africa. Excellent accommodations, excellent service. A real gem.  In March 2010, Tatler reports that the Mount Nelson has been spruced up and "is now home to one of the bubbliest bars in town, Planet Champagne."  Get insider tips for Cape Town in the attached, November 2008 W Magazine article.

"No detail goes unnoticed at this boutique Bantry Bay bed and breakfast; not content with creating a spotlessly slick mini-hotel in Cape Town, O on Kloof ’s flamboyant owner Olaf really goes that extra mile – a bottle of cool bubbly waiting for you on arrival, canapés brought to your room at 6pm sharp and staff so smiley you wonder if they’re paid in chocolate."   [Mr and Mrs Smith]

Quicky getaway from Cape Town, near Stellenbosch along the Garden Route.  "This unique guesthouse stay allows you a nostalgic glimpse into South Africa’s vintage winelands world: lingering breakfasts on the verandah, vineyard walks, sundowners on the stoop and indulgent dinners in an 18th-century dining room. All this bewitchingly unpolished perfection is just 30 minutes from Cape Town, and Hawksmoor House is ideally placed for exploring the winelands – starting with nearby Stellenbosch."   [Mr and Mrs Smith]  Good value, rates from $134.

"Climb up the right Table Mountain road and you'll discover the hilltop hideaway of Alta Bay – relaxed rooms set amid great gardens – and you're still only a stroll from all the night-owl enticements of Kloof Street, and a drive from the best beaches imaginable."  [Mr and Mrs Smith]
+ TOWN AND COUNTRY, WALLPAPER, OUR FRIENDS
Well regarded "harbor" hotel with good views of the marina on one side and Table Mountain on the other. In September 2009, Town & Country announced that "Cape Grace's rooms have been given a major face-lift." "French windows, fresh flowers bought daily and small library with good books keep us going back," says Wallpaper in naming the Cape Grace one of the "Best Business Hotels 2009."

Good side trip from Cape Town,  3.5 hours north in the Cederberg Mountains.  "By day, explore the valley’s ancient cave paintings, fly-fishing, canoeing, and archery. When night falls, get enveloped by a tapestry of stars at Embers, the reserve’s restaurant built into an ancient sandstone amphitheatre. The traditional South African BBQ (braai) includes home-baked bread, grilled Karoo lamb, and boerewors sausage."  Read more in the attached DailyCandy article.
