The old grande dame in Buenos Aires. Great location. W Magazine reported that the Alvear Palace purchased the building next door and has opened a luxurious 8,000-square foot spa, offering, "a soothing, modern atmosphere, done up in dark and light Argentine Caoba and Lapacho woods and structural columns embellished with glass Bisazza mosaic tiles." In February 2008, DailyCandy recommended the new spa and wrote, "The grand new spa has a circulation-boosting plunge pool and creative (pebble-and-water reflexology, volcanic mud) treatments." In December 2008, Elle Decor picked the Alvear Palace Hotel in its review of Buenos Aires and recommended La Bourgogne, the hotel's restaurant which happens to be the only "Relais Gourmand" resto in Argentina.
