Away from the tourist action, the new Atlantis in Barbados is "best for foodies," according to Harper's Bazaar in its June 2010 Hotlist of secret resorts. Located on the island's rugged Atlantic side, this 10-room boutique hotel occupies a restored 19th century house with a laid-back vibe. "Bajan cuisine is a big draw: miss at your peril the West Indies Buffet Brunch; suckling pig, rice and peas, pork belly, flying fish, calloloo, plantain, rum cakes -- the works." [Bazaar] Good value.
+ OUR FRIENDS
"The Australian owners of Little Good Harbour have managed not only to create a Barbados boutique hotel that captures the essence of the island’s beach life 20 years ago, but have also opened one of the most impressive restaurants in the country. A scattering of whitewashed coral-stone cottages, the seaside hotel smacks of unpretentious luxury – the perfect in-the-know hidey-hole for Caribbean beach-bunnies. " [Mr and Mrs Smith]
