A Bazaar spa pick, an eco-retreat on the banks of the Daintree River in far-north Queensland, the world's oldest rainforest, dating back 135 million years. The magazine remarks, "The spa is not flanked by infinity pools or built from marble, nor is the accommodation ultra-luxurious; but it's exquisite because you are surrounded by the rainforest."

Besides the occasional Tasmanian devil gnawing on your footwear (no joke, read the attached article), the FT says northwest Tasmania is a "pristine wilderness in vast rain-forests." Cradle Mountain Lodge provides family-run, cosy accommodations in a substantial area (1.38 m hectares--20% of the island) listed by World Heritage for the past 24 years. "In the lodge, there had been a log-burning stove in the bedroom, wallabies at the window and two young wild devils gambolling outside the restaurant." New luxury resort in Australia consisting of a full-service spa, two excellent restaurants and 60 pooled villas on the northernmost point of Hamilton Island (Great Barrier Reef), two hours by plane from Sydney. "Expect the luxury drill, except this one comes with Whitsunday Passage views," says the FT.  Vogue picked Qualia as a good spot for a romantic getaway.  No kids under 18 allowed.
