Old hacienda, dating back to 1885, just a mile from the Mexican border in Arizona. Good spot for couples to chill out, put on cowboy gear and drink Coronas. Cozy rooms with fireplaces, furnished with a modern Mexican feel. Activities include horseback riding, nature walks, guided hikes, mountain bike rides and bird watching. At night, meals are served inside the hacienda and al fresco. Rave reviews for the food, especially the grilled fare such as steak and balsamic-glazed salmon. Rates from $210 a night full board, including all daily activities.

What a find by DailyCandy!  Spend a relaxing vacation on a luxury houseboat, available along 12 beautiful waterways from Texas'  Lake Amistad to California's Lake Berryessa.  They typically sleep 10-12, and some come with hot tubs.  Great chill out option. Check out the web site.
+ OUR FRIENDS, VANITY FAIR
Vanity Fair gossiped that the former editor of French Vogue, Joan Juliet Buck, supposedly prefers the Arizona Inn to Hotel Du Cap. "A (1930s) Spanish-colonial fantasy of 86 rooms on 14 palm-studded acres...that feels like an intimate version of the Beverly Hills Hotel," says the magazine.
+ ELLE, WALLPAPER
Spa pick by Elle. A favorite with 1950s Hollywood, this hotel recently underwent a renovation, which Wallpaper admired for its use of exposed brick, glass walls, and vintage furniture.
+ TATLER, WALLPAPER
Lots of buzz about this new hotel in Scottsdale, Arizona.  Tatler says that "sex is everywhere," referring to the Mondrian Scottsdale's pool/spa vibe. Wallpaper stuck to its architectural roots and highlighted designer Benjamin Noriega-Ortiz's use of a "Garden of Eden" theme for the hotel's decor. No matter how you look at it, it's hot!

Buzzy modern Mexican restaurant in Tucson, Arizona, according to The New York Times.  "Don’t be put off by [Cafe Poca Casa's] location (in an ugly office building) or the décor (a vain attempt to import some glam L.A. style). The chef Suzana Davila has attracted national attention for her novel take on Mexican cuisine, which emphasizes fresh and regional. Try the daily sampler (La Plato Poca Cosa) of three dishes chosen by the chef. It usually has an exotic mole and perhaps a zinger like a vegetarian tamale with pineapple salsa." [{NYT]  Cafe Poca Casa's lunch menu is cheaper than its dinnner one. Click here for more cool Tuscon travel tips in the January 2010 NY Times article, 36 hours in Tucson.
