In October 2009 Tatler declares, "Get there soon: Aleppo [Syria] is poised to become the chicest destination in the Middle East. "(Christian Louboutin bought a house there). "[It is] Marrakesh before the macchiato invasion." For accommodation in Aleppo, Tatler recommends the Mansouriya, "best hotel in the Middle East.... wonderful and theatrical."  Harper's Bazaar adds, "None [of the hotels in Aleppo] is more sumptuous than the Mansouiriya Place in the Old City [Aleppo is its best destination for exotic souks]."  It has nine rooms and is sited in a 16th century Ottoman Arabic house. Read all about Aleppo and touring Syria in the attached Financial Times articles, Syria Souks and Citadels, by FT travel editor Rahul Jacob and, Syria's Inimitable cuisine, by culinary expert Mary Taylor Simeti.
