The New York Times writes, "For a casual dinner in the heart of [Palm Beach], head to Cucina Dell'Arte which is popular with a younger crowd and is open until 3 a.m. It is decorated in the earth tones and mustards and peaches typical of the Mediterranean and seems to be busy all day with families, couples and groups of friends. You can eat outdoors and watch the crowds go by. Try the pollo cacciatore ($25)." Click here for more Palm Beach travel tips from the March 2010 NY Times article, 36 hours in Palm Beach.

"Unlike the gleaming white sandy beaches that most of Bali's resorts rest upon, Alila Soori sits in a deserted black sand landscape, in a less-trodden part of the island... The resort is made up on a network of pool villas with beach, ocean or rice field views, as well as high-reaching walls that conceal each villa from its neighbors." 11-room boutique hotel in the Franschhoek wine region ("South Africa's corner of France") where FT travel guru Claire Wrathall spent "two blissful days amid a decor Marie-Antoinette might have loved." She explains, "As a scheme it shouldn’t work at all. The building is a low modern structure rendered in a sort of yellowish terracotta reminiscent of Provence, as are the lavender fields and olive groves that surround it. But inside, below a roof of corrugated iron, the furniture is an eclectic mix of rococo, Louis XVI with Ming dynasty and Indian antiques, the floor is polished chequerboard marble strewn with oriental rugs and the light comes from excessively ornate chandeliers. That Elton John has twice taken over the whole hotel for a holiday comes as no surprise. I just never expected to love it myself." [FT] Learn more about La Residence and Franschhoek in the attached, February 2010 FT travel review.
