Sushi chef Katsuya Uechi's restaurant with Philippe Starck is just the first of a mini-chain of Katsuya restaurants to open in Los Angeles. Gone is the stigma of having more than one location. In January 2008, Wallpaper announced the opening of the Hollywood branch, which Elle Decor later called "hot." In March 2008, Wallpaper announced the opening of the adjourning S Bar also designed by Philippe Starck, but with a "mismatched flea-market style." In August 2008, Town and Country recommends the Celery Superstar cocktail there. In February 2009, Wallpaper designated Katsuya "second-place" for its annual award "best new restaurant."
