The Opposite House, a cool hotel in Beijing (Chaoyang District)
New, super-stylish luxury hotel in Beijing by acclaimed Japanese architect Kengo Kuma. 99 minimalist-chic rooms featuring ryokan-style bathrooms with oak soaking tubs. In December 2008, Wallpaper featured the Opposite House in a full-page article and praised the "lean, Nordic-forest feel of the light filled suites and studios." In May 2008, Vogue pointed out that the hotel's three restaurants and two bars, by Shanghai restaurateur David Laris, "promise to light up the already vibrant Sanlitum district." Later, in March 2009, Wallpaper featured Punk, the Opposite House's late-night bar and club, in Departure Info.
